Kids in Hong Kong for Easter Vacation

Greg and Lindsey decided to come visit Hong Kong again. Having Jake and Shauna live here was an extra incentive to get them back. When Lindsey planned the trip, neither of us realized it would be over Easter. David surprised the kids with a ton of Easter candy he brought back from the states, and I put together Easter baskets for them. Sadly I forgot to take pictures. I wasn't into coloring eggs, but Lindsey insisted...the day after Easter.

You can clearly see the winner of the egg dying contest. David was proud.

Great having family at an Easter celebration.

Shauna and Lindsey went to Thailand for a week, and we then flew to Guilin, China. Our destination was Yangshuo. We have heard great things about the place from friends who have visited there, but nothing would have prepared us for the beauty of that place. AMAZING. I'll let the pictures do the talking....and there are a lot of pictures. How can I possibly edit this much beauty? Enjoy:

Airport express shuttle. Hong Kong has the greatest transportation in the world.

I forgot to mention that the girls were both extremely ill coming back from their Thailand trip. We're guessing food poisoning. But they were troopers!

Moondance. Greatest little boutique hotel in the city. We'll be booking it again.

This is the road we crossed daily to get to the hotel. The women carried on their usual morning routine of washing their clothes in the river.

First up was floating down the Li River. As much as we enjoyed it, we all agreed that the mountain formations surrounding our hotel, and in town, were just as impressive, if not more.

The girls insisted on the flower halos. And they looked adorable. Best $1 purchase made of the trip.

It was the only day it rained. But that didn't stop us from shopping.

At the end of the river tour, we had an incredible lunch.

I believe we would all agree that our favorite part of the trip was cycling around Yangshuo and enjoying the sights of this amazing place.

Can't think of a more beautiful place in the world than to have your wedding pictures taken. I can however, think of a better groom's suit to wear (maroon plaid).

This lady had the kindest face. Many women are on the roadside trying to sell you river trips, honey, flower halo's etc. The women can be vultures as they try and sell you their goods; however, this woman stole our hearts because of her kindness.

Here are the women that attacked (not kidding...one woman hit Shauna) while trying to push (literally) their flower halos on the girls.

We cycled to another boutique hotel "Tea Cozy" for a drink and rest. David and I think we may try this little gem on our next trip to Yangshuo.

We went on a "bird feeding" expedition. Weird to watch birds catch fish, can't swallow them because of string tied around their necks, and then throw them up. I will skip this next trip.

For some reason I'm missing pictures of Lindsey and Jake.

David's experience helped me decide that I would "pass" on holding the birds. No regrets.

I think the kids enjoyed the Mud Baths a little more than their bird expedition. We had to go through caves before getting to the mud baths. The caves would have been awesome if they would have lit the caves with normal lighting instead of disco Vegas. Entertaining nonetheless.

Jake and Greg sporting their cool shorts purchased at the caves....just like Disneyland you're roped into buying their souvenirs. And these were memorable.

Sadly all of my group shots in the mud turned out too dark.

My second favorite part of the trip (after cycling), was hiking up to Moon Hill.

Although Shauna threw up while hiking, she powered through. A sweet lady must have taken pity as she fanned her on the way up (hoping to get a tip). And then an older lady packing up water to sell at the top of the hill put us all to shame. Just another day's work.

We went in to town most every night to explore....and EAT.

Jake and Greg have never been so happy over hand pulled noodles. And the chef was thrilled how much the boys kept eating.

Shauna was happy to have Indian naan bread. Which was about the only thing she could hold down.

I cannot put into words how much the beauty of this country enveloped me with awe. I hope to go back to Yangshuo every year that I live in Asia.
